PAR Record Verification Standard

The public standard for checking PAR recognition identities, credentials and current status.

Verification purpose

PAR verification provides a public method for checking whether a submitted identifier corresponds to a recognition or credential maintained in the PAR system.

Identifiers

  • PAR ID: identifies the recognized record, achievement or award.
  • Registry ID: identifies the corresponding public registry entry.
  • Certificate ID: identifies the credential issued for the recognition where applicable.

Year-aware identity

PAR public identifiers use a type and recognition-year structure, for example PAR-REC-2026-001001 and PAR-REC-CERT-2026-001001. The identifiers are system-generated and may be corrected by authorized administrators through a controlled audit process.

Verification result

A valid result should be read with the displayed holder, title, recognition type, date and status. Verification confirms the relationship represented by the official record; it does not independently prove claims beyond that record.

Status

Active, Suspended and Withdrawn states have different meanings. A suspended or withdrawn recognition should not be represented as a current active recognition.

Security and authenticity

A certificate design, logo, screenshot or photocopy is not a substitute for official verification. When authenticity matters, use the official PAR verification service and compare the identifiers and recognition details.
