Certificate & Credential Standard
Standards for unique credentials, identity, verification, status and responsible use.
Unique identity
Each applicable credential should have a unique Certificate ID. Recognition identity, Registry identity and credential identity are related but distinct.
Verification
Credential authenticity should be confirmed through the official PAR verification service rather than by appearance, logo or a standalone copy.
Credential information
A credential may contain the holder name, recognition title, category, recognition date, PAR ID, Registry ID, Certificate ID and verification information as applicable.
Status
Credential and recognition status should reflect the current administrative state. A credential may become invalid or require replacement when the underlying recognition status changes.
Responsible representation
PAR recognition should not be represented as government accreditation, ISO certification, regulatory approval or professional licensure unless such status has been independently and expressly established.
